Leo’s Christening was like no other I have ever experienced. It was a whirlwind of love where every member of his family was close by & sharing in this special occasion. Leo was dressed at the Church by his family and cradled in the arms of his loved ones before, during and after. So many people who adore him so. He’s one very lucky little boy. He is already blessed.

Thank you Vivien & Josh for inviting me to record the beautiful event that unfolded for little Leo. It was such a pleasure to document your day. K x

As the sun was setting on a late Friday afternoon, the kids took me down the back of their property to take some photographs especially for their dad for Father’s Day wearing Dad’s business shirts. The golden light was peeking through the trees & we walked, trying helplessly to avoid the Farmer’s ‘Friends’. It was little Emma’s first birthday only a couple of weeks ago & she was walking – just. It was just beautiful to watch the bond between her & her siblings – especially her eldest sister.

Their dad popped home unexpectedly & caught us in action – Dad’s can be a little unpredictable like that! Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s here in Australia for this weekend. I hope you have a wonderful day with your families.

What a fabulous idea for a gift. These guys asked me to help them give their grandmother a gift for her birthday. It was a big birthday. One of those birthdays that grandmothers usually want to overlook but one that the rest of the family want to celebrate. So when I was asked to take some photographs of all the grandkids – cousins, I was thrilled to help out.

So the idea was to get some group shots and some natural group shots too. Ages ranged from 20+ to almost one. As you know those little ones can be elusive but this group of young people were fabulous. Check them out – like a photo shoot for a TV show – you know like Beverly Hills 90210. Not that they were born then. (Yikes I’m old.)

It’s such an amazing privilege to be invited back into a family’s home & to celebrate special occasions with them. I photographed Chase at 4 weeks here and again with his grandmother & his big sister when he was a couple of months old.

Just over a week ago, Chase was baptised in a ceremony with close family & friends. May his life be blessed. Wishing this little cutie every kindness & happiness the world can bring.

For this short little mini-session Benny & Charlene brought the kids out to play by the river. The boys were keen to run & play & their little sister just wanted to do the same. And that’s ok. That’s what being a kid is all about.

Sometimes when I visit homes to take photographs of kids they are in one of those moods. You know, where they are bouncing off the walls & don’t want to sit still. Sometimes this can be fantastic for natural photography but when your eldest doesn’t want to hold the ‘baby’, it can be treacherous. Add to that one very tired little 4 week old & you can imagine that this session didn’t go as smoothly as planned. But that’s okay because we still got some beautiful (natural) photographs.

Here are some photographs of two little boys & a mumma who has her hands full!

* Here is an example of a Story Telling Session. A session with a beautiful, loving family when I first started photographing people other than my own precious loves.

As soon as I arrived at the location for our photo shoot, I could tell we were going to have an adventure. Three year old Christopher was already exploring his surroundings but he stopped ever so politely to say hello.

Little Christopher was excited to be there. I’m not sure we were excited for the same reasons. His was childhood curiousity. Mine – photographing a loving family of four.

While he collected sticks and explored, I spoke with Katia and her husband. I learnt that here, before they had children, Abey fell in love with Katia. What a perfect location then to photograph them now with their two amazingly cute little boys.

We have welcomed in a new year. 2014 is upon us. As we all make plans for the year ahead, our family makes a huge effort to rest, relax & enjoy some together time before the school year begins again.

Photographing special occasions is a beautiful experience. I love the sense of ceremony, ritual & tradition. At special occasions people are happy. They are joyful. They are present in that moment not distracted by the everyday.

Evie’s baptism was a small family affair. An intimate ceremony. Evie was showered with love & hope for the future.
