Celebrations are special. Whether it’s a wedding, a christening or a birthday, there are moments of laughter, kindness & love that are shared between the people who attend. This is what I love most about attending an event. However, capturing the event also includes photographing the details. The little things that make the atmosphere so amazing. In this case, Nicole of Penny Lane Studio styled Emma’s beautiful Boho 40th birthday so beautifully that I heard everyone comment.
I often take photographs for Emma of Bella Boheme but this time it was Emma who was the centre of attention and not her lovely clothing. Happy 40th Em. I’m not too far behind you! xo

Stephen & Cassandra have been in love for many years. Their wedding was very much a family affair. Their children were their groomsmen & bridesmaid together with Cassandra’s sister. It was a confirmation of their love. A celebration of family. And after so long together, it was beautiful to see how smitten these two were on the day. Cheeky little smiles from the bride & laughter all around. A beautiful wedding co-ordinated by family. The girls had made their own bouquets after a trip to the flower market. Grandma had collected mason jars for 6 months for the table decorations. The groom & their son had decorated the room on the morning of the wedding. All aspects of their wedding had special meaning to them & that’s the way it should be. Here are a few of the images from their wonderful day.

What a fabulous idea for a gift. These guys asked me to help them give their grandmother a gift for her birthday. It was a big birthday. One of those birthdays that grandmothers usually want to overlook but one that the rest of the family want to celebrate. So when I was asked to take some photographs of all the grandkids – cousins, I was thrilled to help out.
So the idea was to get some group shots and some natural group shots too. Ages ranged from 20+ to almost one. As you know those little ones can be elusive but this group of young people were fabulous. Check them out – like a photo shoot for a TV show – you know like Beverly Hills 90210. Not that they were born then. (Yikes I’m old.)
It’s such an amazing privilege to be invited back into a family’s home & to celebrate special occasions with them. I photographed Chase at 4 weeks here and again with his grandmother & his big sister when he was a couple of months old.
Just over a week ago, Chase was baptised in a ceremony with close family & friends. May his life be blessed. Wishing this little cutie every kindness & happiness the world can bring.

Ryan & Naomi are so down to earth. They were both so calm & relaxed on the morning of their big day. You could tell that they enjoyed every minute of their beautiful Blue Mountains wedding. So did their guests. There were smiles everywhere I looked. Admiration & love. It was joyful to be part of something so special. My good friend Renee stayed with the bride to capture every moment of her preparations in the morning while I headed off to see the groom. When I arrived I quickly realised that the groom & the groomsmen were going to keep me laughing all day long. Brothers in arms. I truly enjoyed every moment. Watching the bride & groom embraced by family & friends always makes me feel grateful – humbled to be a recording the story of their day. Thank you Ryan & Naomi for inviting me to share in the love.

Having four children of my own, I know first hand how the birth of your own child can present a myriad of emotions. When you hold your baby for the first time there is an overwhelming sense of joy coupled with responsibility, anxiety (at the thought of looking after such a precious little human, yet having no handbook to do so) & elation.
I had planned to photograph the birth of little Owen. Some people (like my husband) imagine birth photography literally. “Why would you want that?” he asked me in horror. I explained that it’s about the emotional journey not the medical side of things. It’s that moment when your partner looks at you like you are the most incredible woman in the world. When they hold your hand as the pain overwhelms you. That moment when you hold your baby for the first time. When your first born meets their little brother or sister. When the grandparents rush to meet their new grandchild. Birth photography records those first moments just as you would record the other milestones in your child’s early years.
Owen arrived via cesarian section. It wasn’t planned that way but things rarely go to plan. I sat with Belinda’s mother as we waited for news of the baby’s arrival. I was there for the moment when Doron told her of her grandson’s birth; as she recorded the important stats. My heart ached for Belinda & Doron when they were told that their little boy needed to stay in the Special Care Nursery for at least the first 24 hours. He was ok but would be monitored as a precaution. Those first moments when they held their baby in their arms were not as planned but they were all the more precious.
Belinda wasn’t there when her first born Caleb met his little brother but I was – camera in hand. Such a precious moment & I feel so privileged to have been there to capture it for her.
Congratulations Doron, Belinda, Caleb & family on the birth of little Owen. Wishing you every happiness as you watch him grow. Thank you for letting me be a part of such a momentous occasion in your lives. I am truly grateful. K xo
Photographing special occasions is a beautiful experience. I love the sense of ceremony, ritual & tradition. At special occasions people are happy. They are joyful. They are present in that moment not distracted by the everyday.
Evie’s baptism was a small family affair. An intimate ceremony. Evie was showered with love & hope for the future.

It was windy at the beach as the wild ocean pounded the rocks where we had intended to photograph this lovely couple. Instead, we took shelter by the tall pine trees.
